President Dina Boluarte on Monday asserted that the government is taking important and concrete steps in the fight against crime, indicating that it is a national commitment to defeat this scourge and achieve peace and tranquility for all Peruvians.

The Head of State led a new session of the "War Room" at the Government Palace in Lima.

Within this framework, the top official asserted that law enforcement forces are present in the streets, on corners, and in prisons, dismantling criminal organization networks.

"We are taking important and concrete steps in this fight against crime," Mrs. Boluarte stated.

"Rest assured that we will not rest until the last minute. Our commitment is to every family expecting firm actions, which are already being taken, and we will not stop (…) As one single force, we will defeat criminals," she expressed.

Operations and arrests under state of emergency

The Head of State detailed that 1,823 police agents were deployed in Lima and Callao in the past 24 hours, executing 543 operations that resulted in the arrest of 268 criminals, 256 of whom are Peruvians and 13 foreigners.

Additionally, 36 individuals with outstanding warrants were apprehended.

Simultaneously, the Armed Forces reinforced security by deploying 4,340 personnel, conducting 266 patrols in strategic locations.

"Our government will not give them a break. The National Police, with the support of our brave Armed Forces, is on the front line in the fight against insecurity," she said.

The top official emphasized that these operations are successfully allowing the dismantling of criminal gangs and the disruption of their networks both in the streets and penitentiary centers.

"Fellow citizens, to eradicate violence, we must take control of all spaces, and we are doing so. We are in the streets, on corners, in neighborhoods, and in prisons, dismantling their networks," she stated.

Meanwhile, Deputy Internal Order Minister Cesar Guardia Vasquez provided details on the actions and strategies in the fight against crime.

Lastly, the President called for national unity to confront this issue, noting that it is not an isolated effort but a national commitment to defeat those who seek to take away peace and the country's future.

"Rest assured that we will not rest until the last minute. Our commitment is to each one of you, to every family awaiting responses and firm actions. Those actions are underway, and we will not stop," she concluded.
