Revenue of $2.9 Million in 2018 Down 9.6% Versus $3.2 Million in 2017

Net Income of $210,000 in 2018 Down 8.2% Versus $228,000 in 2017

NEW YORK, Aug. 14, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Saker Aviation Services, Inc. (OTCQB:SKAS), an aviation services company specializing in ground-based services to the general aviation marketplace, today announced its financial results for the three months ended June 30, 2018.

Revenue and net income in the three months ended June 30, 2018 of $2,877,419 and $209,653, respectively, were down 9.6 percent and 8.2 percent, respectively, as compared to revenue of $3,183,940 and $228,286 in the three months ended June 30, 2017.

“A fatal helicopter accident in the East River on March 11, 2018 had a significant, though we believe short-term, impact on our results in the second quarter of 2018,” stated Ron Ricciardi, the Company’s President.  “The flight did not originate out of our Heliport, but one of the largest operators at our facility was involved.   The operator fully cooperated with the resulting investigation, which necessarily and understandably took their focus away from day-to-day business.  The accident also had a negative impact on demand for other operators at our Heliport.  While we anticipate the year-over-year softness to continue for a period of time, we do not anticipate a long-term impact on business results.”

The Company also reported Adjusted EBITDA1 of $354,501 for the three months ended June 30, 2018, a decrease of $108,705 as compared to Adjusted EBITDA of $463,206 in the three months ended June 30, 2017.  Please see footnote 1 below for the Company’s definition of Adjusted EBITDA, a description of why the Company uses Adjusted EBITDA and important disclaimers regarding Adjusted EBITDA, which is a non-GAAP measure.  A reconciliation of Adjusted EBITDA to the appropriate GAAP measure is also included in footnote 1.

 -FINANCIAL TABLES TO FOLLOW -

1 Explanation of Adjusted EBITDA, a Non-GAAP Financial Measure

The Company defines Adjusted EBITDA as earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, as adjusted for stock based compensation expense and other income and expense items.  The Company believes that Adjusted EBITDA, which is a financial measure that is not defined by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (“GAAP”), is a useful performance metric because it eliminates non-cash and/or non-recurring charges to earnings.  It is important to note that non-GAAP measures such as Adjusted EBITDA should be considered in addition to, not as a substitute for or superior to, net income, cash flows, or other measures of financial performance prepared in accordance with GAAP.  A reconciliation of net income to Adjusted EBITDA is as follows for the three months ended June 30, 2018 and 2017.
